_HISTORY: wiki, Clear's Route

_ABILITIES:

Clear is a robot. He will never age, and he can function forever for as long as he gets proper repairs and maintenance. His sense of pain is limited to knowing what would hurt your average human being. He will react accordingly to pinches, kicks, punches, etc. But he can choose not to react to great damage, such as getting acid thrown at him or getting stabbed in the face, if it will hinder his goal. On the other hand, he was programmed with a perfectly functional sense of pleasure.

His personality can be reprogrammed, as shown by how he was modified by the man he calls his grandfather from a basic Alpha unit to a more childlike and innocent person, and back to an Alpha unit by Toue in the bad ending. He retains certain information from these reprogrammings: he still remembered that he's a robot when his grandfather reprogrammed him, and he still loved Aoba when Toue reprogrammed him. In his canon, changes in his personality and repairs can only be done by Toue and his former employees.

He can hold his own in a fist fight, mostly because he's made of metal and feels little pain.

Clear is a defective model of a robot that was manufactured to blend in with humanity and brainwash them in accordance to Toue's mission. These robots can sing "Dye Music", a type of song that brainwashes people and prepares them for Toue's commands. Clear was never shown to sing Dye Music, instead his songs can counter-act their effect. His songs are relaxing, easing mental tension and can work as a lullaby. Clear has an excellent sense of hearing. He can hear from great distances and past solid objects. He can also leap from great heights.

_PERSONALITY:

Raised by an old man who lives near the garbage dumps of Midorijima, Clear seems to have lived a carefree life. He's ever cheerful. He's bouncy and energetic. While he doesn't beg for attention through his words, being doted on made him used to people liking what he does. Fortunately insults bounce off him like nothing at all. He'll whine about how people are mean, but that's it.

Spending one's life with a dying old man will do that to someone. The man Clear called his grandfather was the only family he ever had. He wanted the old man to be happy, so he developed a personality that cheered him up despite their somber living conditions. The old man treated him like a son so he acted like a child. He shared the fun things he discovered. He would openly talk about things that amused him. He is trusting and friendly to almost everyone he met. But his problems were things that he kept to himself.

For every route except his own, Clear is Dramatical Murder's source of comic relief. Everything he does just seems silly and lacking common sense. For him, doors and windows are almost the same thing. He also likes hanging out on roof tops. He doesn't get into fights, unless he finds Aoba's life to be at stake. And when the people he cares about fight, he flounders around trying to look for a solution. Clear mentioned his dead grandfather in the common route, and talked about how he might break in passing. But they were never taken that seriously. The gas mask that he wore helped a lot when it comes to hiding his feelings, since his way of speaking is always polite and unassuming. He never showed people any sign that those were things that bothered him.

His grandfather died in his sleep. Because of that, Clear started secretly guarding Aoba as he slept because he feared that the same thing might happen again.

Clear always knew he wasn't human, and eventually confirmed that he was a robot when he met others like him. And robots are expendable. They aren't alive in the same way humans are alive. If he breaks he can be fixed. Because there are other robots like him, not only is he not unique, he's also defective by their standards. Because of this, Clear doesn't think much about his own life. He once got beat up by a gang and got acid thrown over his head just so they won't hurt Aoba. He even thinks his own feelings are irrelevant. His definition of loving someone was pretty one-sided and didn't involve being loved back. He wore the gas mask not just because his grandfather told him to never show people his face, but because he thought he was a monster. While Aoba has confirmed that he looks just the same as everyone else from the canon point I'm taking him from, Clear still hasn't made that decision for himself.

Clear met Aoba, who he started calling "Master", when Aoba used Scrap, a vocal technique that brainwashes people. Because Toue had the same quality in his voice and Clear was originally made for Toue, his programming recognized Aoba as his master. But that doesn't mean that he obeyed Aoba's every word. On the contrary, Aoba didn't even want to be called "Master" in the first place. Clear made his own decisions, like cooking for the man while wearing an apron and just an apron (and his gas mask), turning himself over to a gang and leaving their hotel at night to meet with the robots that look just like him. His stubborn nature confirms that Clear is sentient. He might doubt himself at this point, but he has his own personality and can be considered human.

There are two endings to his route: the good end and the bad end. The good ending can be obtained by letting Clear decide on his own to sacrifice himself to save Aoba from his robot brothers. He gets broken but is eventually fixed and re-united with Aoba. The continuation of the ending in the game's official fan disk shows that Clear has accepted that he and Aoba are different, but it doesn't matter because they love each other. The bad decision can be obtained by telling Clear to stop. Aoba gets captured by Toue and is experimented on, Clear gets slightly reprogrammed but still recognizes and loves Aoba. Instead of accepting that they're different and that's okay, Clear continues to experiment on Aoba to turn him into something that's more like Clear. Despite their drastic differences, the following are constant: 1) when Clear is devoted to someone, he will be devoted to them for life; 2) that discovering and developing his own opinion regarding his humanity is important to him; and 3) there are some things that no amount of repair and reprogramming can change, even for a robot like him.

_SMUT LOG SAMPLE:

[ This is natural. His body is made for this. He felt this way for his mater too.

His coat is off and so is his scarf. He doesn't want them to get dirty. His isn't wearing his mask too. Clear saw different kinds of sexual acts during his stay in Amoi. He knows people have sex with things like him too. So it doesn't matter, does it, whether he is or isn't a monster?

He strokes his shaft with one hand. His other hand rests on his forehead, as if he's shielding his eyes from the dull blue light that shines from the ceiling. It might have been something in the food, or the air, or just his body trying to fit in with everything he just saw, but Clear knows that he's very aroused. And who was he to deny himself pleasure, as long as he doesn't bring harm to anyone? So he continues to masturbate, touching himself with long, languid strokes and shamelessly moaning no one's name in particular.

He smiles at his partner as soon as he sees them enter the room. Clear almost didn't hear them come in, which is a strange but not entirely unpleasant feeling. Normal people don't hear things that happen through walls these thick after all. He wants to say thank you, or apologize for him being their partner for the night, but instead he mouths "hi" and makes space for them on his bed. ]
